WDM/OTN for Carriers & ISPs

PacketLight Corporate Video

Watch - 5 Steps to DWDM

Access, metro and long haul network infrastructure must be flexible, to support any customer need for high capacity services of carrier Ethernet, multi-protocol layer switching (MPLS), SONET/SDH, storage area network (SAN), and video while maintaining a secure, efficient and manageable transport solution.

PacketLight DWDM Solutions for Carriers and ISPs

Fiber capacity utilization is a major consideration for providers to reduce their overhead costs. WDM networks enable to transmit up to 96 channels over separate wavelengths on the same fiber infrastructure, making them the most efficient way to utilize existing fibers, where the alternative may be an investment in new infrastructure.

FIVE MUST-HAVES:

  • Flexible
  • Efficient
  • Secured
  • Reliable
  • Cost-effective

Flexible

PacketLight’s products offer carrier class features with multi-rate and multi-protocol capabilities. The solutions enable to easily scale network capacity without replacing exiting OTN/DWDM infrastructure, by adding 100G/200G/400G alien wavelengths. This facilitates a cost-effective upgrade and provides the flexibility to use different vendor hardware seamlessly over the same infrastructure, forming a disaggregated solution.

Multi-service provisioning platforms (MSPP) enable service providers to offer customers new bundled services at the transport, switching and routing layers of the network, while also dramatically decreasing the time it takes to provision new services. The platforms enable transport over longer distances with less regeneration sites by utilizing forward error correction (FEC) embedded within the layer. Consequently, the OTN layer forms the most efficient and cost effective MSPP over WDM infrastructure.

Efficient

OTN over WDM network enables more efficient convergence of traditional SONET/SDH and new data services. The OTN layer is designed for highly effective mapping of different protocols and rates into the same 10G/100G/200G/400G uplink, providing high bandwidth capabilities. The integration of OTN cross connect capabilities and built-in add drop multiplexer (ADM) mode in a 1U chassis, leads to low heat dissipation and compact rack space, at a comparatively low cost.

Secured

PacketLight’s cryptography solution performs GCM-AES-256 encryption on Layer-1 without any degradation to the full bandwidth of GbE/10/40/100/400Gb Ethernet, and 1G/2G/4G/8G/16G/32G Fibre Channel services. The encryption solution is NIST FIPS 140-2 and Common Criteria EAL2 certified, and complies with Commercial National Security Algorithm (CNSA) Top Secret Suite B 2015 requirements for GbE/10/40/100/400Gb Ethernet. This adds value to carrier services as it enables them to offer secured infrastructure to customers that demand high level of confidentiality.

Reliable

Service level agreements (SLA) demand to deliver reliable uninterrupted service with minimal downtime. PacketLight optical transport solution is designed to provide reliable high capacity systems for networks that cannot afford network outage. The units have power and fan redundancies and support different levels of protection.

Cost-effective

PacketLight’s rich feature set products are designed with performance monitoring, diagnostic tools and network management system (NMS) in a cost-effective 1U. They are easy to install, enable fast network deployment, take up minimal rack space and have low power consumption, all significantly reducing OPEX and CAPEX, making for a compelling ROI.
