Salumanus Banks on PacketLight for Financial Institution's Data Center Interconnect
Tel Aviv, May 25, 2020 - PacketLight Networks, a leading provider of DWDM and optical fiber networking solutions, today announced that Salumanus, a Poland-based distributor and provider of network infrastructure solutions, has deployed PacketLight’s optical networking solutions to connect two critical data centers for a major bank in Warsaw for secure data transport between the bank’s branches. The solution delivers low-latency, secure connectivity for 10Gb Ethernet and 16G FC, and ready-to-scale 40Gb Ethernet across two 15-kilometer optical paths.
The bank required a solution that was modular, cost-effective and met the highest security standards to encrypt sensitive data across the fiber. PacketLight’s PL-2000ADS suited these needs, delivering 2x10G and 1x16G on both optical paths with the ability to support 40G in the future, and with embedded Layer-1 encryption for all protocols. With PacketLight’s intuitive solution, Salumanus was able to complete the deployment, remotely, in less than 4 weeks under strict regulations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“PacketLight’s solution met our strict requirements for a solution that delivers low latency, the very best physical layer security, and allowed our client to cost-effectively grow at their own pace,” said Marcin Bala, CTO at Salumanus. “Due to regulations surrounding COVID-19 that restricted our team’s ability to be on-site, the deployment would’ve been challenging if not for our ability to work together to provide our client with remote training for operation, configuration, monitoring and detailed instruction to help them deploy the system on their own.”
The PL-2000ADS provides modular and cost-effective high capacity transport of up to 200G by aggregating a mix of protocols such as 10/40/100Gb Ethernet, 8G/16G/32G FC, STM64/OC192, OTU2/2e and OTU4 into dual 100G OTU4 uplinks. The PL-2000ADS can also function as a standalone Layer-1 encryption solution, allowing enterprises with existing 3rd party DWDM networks to benefit without altering their infrastructure. The solution is FIPS 140-2 Level 2 certified, and provides GCM-AES-256 bit encryption and key exchange based on the Diffie-Hellman (DH) protocol, with full throughput and without compromising performance.
“PacketLight’s PL-2000ADS solution is the ideal combination of security, high bandwidth connectivity and low-latency for short haul DCI networks, all in a compact 1U with low power consumption,” said Koby Reshef, CEO of PacketLight Networks. “We are thrilled to work with Salumanus to help provide a cost-effective, secure, and scalable option to their financial institution clients at a time when they needed it most.”
