LightWave Innovation Reviews

Tel Aviv, Israel - February 21, 2022 – PacketLight Networks, a leading provider of DWDM and OTN equipment, announced today that its PL-4000M 400G Muxponder received the 2022 Lightwave Innovation Reviews in the category of Optical Transport Systems. A panel of judges from the optical communications community recognized PacketLight’s leading technology.

“PacketLight is to be congratulated for achieving Honoree status in the 2022 Lightwave Innovations Reviews,” said Stephen Hardy, editorial director of Lightwave and program director of the Lightwave Innovation Reviews. “Our judges praised the PL-4000M 400G Muxponder for the openness and flexibility it provides network operators.”

In the annual Lightwave Innovation Reviews program, a distinguished panel of industry experts reviews and scores entries to recognize the most innovative products impacting the optical communications community each year. The PL-4000M is designed for cost-effectiveness and lowers optical transmission cost per bit by increasing spectral efficiency and boosting fiber utilization. It incorporates Open ROADM and OpenZR+ pluggable coherent modules, reducing cost, size, power consumption, and installation time. The muxponder also provides full interoperability with any third-party switch or router.

“We are honored, once again, to be recognized by Lightwave, the top publication in our industry,” said Koby Reshef, CEO of PacketLight. “We strive to be a leading innovator and support our clients in meeting their customers’ ever-growing data demands.” PacketLight was also recognized by the program in 2021 for the PL-4000T 4x400G Muxponder/Transponder.

About the PL-4000M 400G Muxponder

The PL-4000M delivers up to 400G capacity over a single wavelength. The device aggregates a mix of client services and data rates, including 10/25/100/400Gb Ethernet, 16/32G Fibre Channel, and OTU2/2e/4, without the need for additional licensing fees. The PL-4000M offers tunable uplink performance/capacity to provide user-selectable 200G/300G/400G uplink according to the application needs. These options enable service providers to use the PL-4000M as a multi-service provisioning platform (MSPP) to offer managed services, or to increase network capacity over existing infrastructure.

The PL-4000M focuses on simplicity and ease of use. It incorporates dual uplinks and OTN cross connects for ring applications. It features embedded Layer-1 encryption based on GCM-AES-256 standards with Diffie-Hellman key exchange, for enhanced network security. It integrates a an optical switch optical amplifier in 1U footprint, and includes comprehensive line and service performance monitoring.
