PacketLight Announces PL-1000RO - ROADM Solution

Tel Aviv, Israel – June 10th, 2010 - PacketLight Networks Ltd, a leading provider of CWDM (Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing) and
DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) transport devices for high throughput data, storage, TDM and ATM connectivity (www.packetlight.com), announces today addition of a new product PL-1000RO, a ROADM solution to its product line.

ROADM based network architecture simplifies configuration and management of multisite back bone DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) network architecture.  It offers highly flexible wavelength routing capabilities suitable for ring, linear add/drop, core and edge DWDM network topologies.

The PL-1000RO  is  based on the latest WSS technology with embedded OCM and can support up to 48 channels at 100GHz spacing or 88 channels at 50GHz spacing covering the  full C-band channels. The PL-1000RO can be dynamically configured by the user to add/drop or bypass different wavelengths at any node in the network and seamlessly change the network node capacity as needed. In addition, it automatically maintains the equalization and power balancing of the added and bypassing wavelengths.

The PL-1000RO is an extremely integrated solution of its kind in a 1U chassis.  With the capacity of two EDFAs, Mux/DeMux and band splitters are integrated into an internal Mux/Demux or can interface to an external Mux/Demux.  Also, it integrates EDFAs for amplifying the wavelengths and delivering effective long distance DWDM solutions.

PL-1000RO fully integrates with PacketLight’s DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) product line, with PL-400, PL-1000, and PL-1000E.  In addition, PacketLight’s ROADM solution is carrier grade and is based on international standards for easy integration in any standards based network infrastructure.

“PacketLight’s PL-1000RO simplifies configuration and management of ring based DWDM network architecture.  It offers highly flexible wavelength routing capabilities suitable for ring, linear add/drop, core and edge DWDM network topologies. The ROADM reduces CAPEX and OPEX by significantly reducing the regenerator sites and enabling quick and seamless deployment of new services across the network by remote configuration of the network nodes” stated Koby Reshef, PacketLight’s VP Marketing.
